  Back in 1985:

Decades before "Flipped", another feature movie was made in downtown Manchester.

The Carrier
During the summer of 1985, Main Street was covered with gravel, new names appeared on familiar buildings, and a church facade was built across the street to transform Manchester into “Sleepy Rock.” Thus downtown Manchester served as the background for the thriller movie “The Carrier.” Many townspeople worked as extras in the film and line images by Bill Shurtliff were featured in the Manchester Area Historical Society calendar.
